Cleveland & Pittsburgh Here I Come!

I'm leaving tonight on a greyhound to go to Cleveland where I will meet up with my uber-cool friend Liz. From there we're going to Pittsburgh to meet up with a bunch of boardies. So exciting. Here's my reading list for while I'm killing time: Jonathan Edwards reader The Enemy Within by Kris Lundgaard The Bible The Vanishing Conscience by John MacArthur I may also pick up a copy of Pilgrims Progress before I leave - I haven't decided. Probably not since my bag is getting pretty heavy.

Cheeseburgers in a can!

So strange . I wonder how gross they are?

20 healthy foods for under $1

I found this today. Very interesting. I'm only letting you read 9 of them, if you want the rest you'll have to click the link! 1. Oats High in fiber and complex carbohydrates, oats have also been shown to lower cholesterol. And they sure are cheap—a dollar will buy you more than a week’s worth of hearty breakfasts. Serving suggestions: Sprinkle with nuts and fruit in the morning, make oatmeal cookies for dessert. 2. Eggs You can get about a half dozen of eggs for a dollar, making them one of the cheapest and most versatile sources of protein. They are also a good source of the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which may ward off age-related eye problems. Serving suggestions: Huevos rancheros for breakfast, egg salad sandwiches for lunch, and frittatas for dinner. 3. Kale This dark, leafy green is loaded with vitamin C, carotenoids, and calcium. Like most greens, it is usually a dollar a bunch. Serving suggestions: Chop up some kale and add to your favorite stir-fry; try Ger

I found the truck of my dreams yesterday

Image
I've been in love with the 1955 model of Chevy pickups for years, at least 12. I was taking my son to get his vision screened so he can start kindergarten next month when I saw the most beautiful truck ever. Ok, it wasn't actually beautiful, it was kind of a mess. It needs some work done on the body, a paint job, and new tires - but my word. I want it. Someone go buy me it. The truck in the picture isn't it, this one is in Indiana somewhere for $8000. ::sigh:: I found one here in Illinois for only $1800! Want to help me get it? Go here .

5 minute Chocolate Cake

Who says you can't have cake in 5 minutes? I found this yesterday, really entertaining and probably a lot cheaper than those premixed microwavable cakes. 4 Tablespoons cake flour 4 Tablespoons sugar 2 Tablespoons cocoa 1 Egg 3 Tablespoons milk 3 Tablespoons oil 1 Mug Mix flour, sugar, and cocoa. Spoon in egg. Pour in milk and oil. Mix well. Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Wait until it stops rising and sets, then tip the contents out of the mug and enjoy. I'd suggest topping it with some hot fudge or something. More chocolate is always better!

A Reading Meme

I'm stealing this Meme from Kim . 1. Do you remember how you developed a love of reading? I'm not really sure. My earliest memories of reading involved Dr. Seuss, I remember when we'd go to the library at school I was always very excited. Things just developed from there. 2. What are some books you loved as a child? Dr. Seuss books, then R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike and the Nancy Drew novels, then Shakespeare and Poe in middle school. 3. What is your favorite genre? Non-fiction. I like reading biographies, books about church history, and basically anything that will help me grow in godliness. 4. Do you have a favorite novel? If I had to have one I'd probably say Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I'm not a huge fiction buff anymore. 5. When/where do you usually read? In bed or at work when we don't have anything to do. 6. Do you usually have more than one book you are reading at a time? Yes. 7. Do you read non-fiction in a different way or place than you read
