Funniest Story Ever

Or at least, that's what I'm calling it. Back story: My daughter inherited not only my looks (she's practically a mini-me) but also my clumsiness. She's constantly falling and getting hurt - her knees look as though she's been to war - which is a major problem b/c she's going to be a flower girl this September. Scars are kind of discouraged by the bride and bride's mom. Today, J ran straight into the door knob of our back door. Not a huge shock, considering a few weeks ago I sliced my finger open on the front door knob, but ever the wise and watchful parent I look for opportunities to bestow motherly wisdom on my children. After I got her to calm down and she asked to go play I told her to be careful b/c "Miss Nancy is gonna kill you if you fall on your face again." About a month ago she fell, literally, straight on her nose and scraped the crap out of it much to the dismay of BFF's mom, Nancy. So, earlier this evening the best big bro...

Series of awesomeness coming

My BFF is coming home next week (AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and we're planning on cooking dinner...which has turned into a yum fest. Realistically we've picked out three days worth of food - and yes, almost everything I've picked out is chocolate - so either we're gonna be really fat or we've got to cut it back to one day's worth. I'm not sure which is gonna happen.

Sinners & Friends (A Thankful Post)

Image
Today's themes in my head have been these two things. 1) "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." (1 Timothy 1:15) I'm so glad Christ came and redeemed the lost. I'm so incredibly glad that God didn't leave me to myself, or that I have to earn my way into His presence. God doesn't just put up with me, or ignore my sin, but dealt with it so finally on the Cross of Christ that I am now bid to "come boldly." Simply wonderful. 2) My best friend who lives in New York was able to fly out to visit for a few days. I just picked her up and am looking forward to being able to visit with her face to face.

I like having friends who love God

Really, I do. Last night I had the great pleasure of loading my kids up and driving out to my deacon's home to have dinner with his wife and children - he was supposed to be there too, but got stuck behind an accident and ended up not getting home until dinner was over with. Anyway - I had a wonderful time. His wife and I got the birth stories done before he got home, you know, because you can't have two women together alone for the first time an not end up sharing birth stories. At least that's how it goes with me. We bond over shared experiences of pain, striving, and great joy. It is like loving the same movie, but in real life . ;) With that taken care of we spent hours just talking about God. How he delivered us from churches with very bad theology and a low view of God, how we found our current church, how He changed our views on His sovereignty, and about a zillion other things. I cannot begin to tell you how I enjoyed myself. The kids had lots of fun, and I feel so...
