On Sunday my pastor was continuing our study in Luke and preached a sermon entitled " Watch Yourselves " on about how we ought to live in light of the glorious promise of Christ's return. Today I'm thankful that this good news is true and faithful, our King is coming - how should that impact me today?

I thought I'd share a link to a conference that is happening in Chicago right now. The speaker line up is amazing, John Piper and Nancy Leigh Demoss kicked things off yesterday - I'm listening to Piper's message as I type this. This morning my pastor gave a pair of excellent messages, the first during a Sunday school class for all the singles of the congregation and the second being in our corporate worship service. Truth be told I found his talk on singleness to be especially convicting. I often go back and forth in my singleness, fluctuating between being content and rather dissatisfied with it. As of late I've been particularly down in the dumps about it, and to my shame have not honored God with it. Needless to say the message was quite timely. With his second message, Man & Woman in the Image of God , Pastor Ryan focused on man's unique dependence upon God compared to the rest of creation, how that dependence is really for our benefit, and that it was in place before the fall. No winter holiday (ahem, CHRISTMAS) would be complete without hot chocolate so here's the recipe I made today. Once you've got it made, why not settle down and reflect upon the glory of God by listening to this wonderful sermon from my church ? I'm particularly intrigued by the final few minutes of it. Finally, I pray each of you would have a beautiful, joyful, and Christ centered holiday this week. I pray your hearts, as well as my own, would be joyfully focused consumed with the very reason Christ came to earth - to bare the wrath of God for, and in place of us. Merry Christmas. 4 squares Baker's chocolate (**I'm assumed they mean 4oz) 2 cups milk, skim 3 drops of vanilla Cinnamon Ground cloves Break up the chocolate and melt in a saucepan with the milk and vanilla. Don't let it boil. Whisk until foamy and pour into mugs. Top with a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of cloves.

Recently I uploaded tons of sermons to my mp3 player. Some of them, many of them, were from the 2007 Desiring God Conference and others were from my church and still others were rather randomly found but Biblically sound. I hadn't listened to most of them but planned on doing so in the near future. I threw them all in no particular order in my sermon playlist and put the mp3 player in the car for use at school. The first thing I listened to was a sermon Doug gave forever ago that I forgot I had downloaded (great job Doug!), then a message on Biblicial femininity by Carolyn Mahaney which was a great follow up to reading her book and I was very challenged by it. It took me two and a half days to get through these messages, simply because I don't have much time right now, but it was well worth the effort. Really, not much effort involved. I put a pair of headphones on and hit play, but you know how it goes. Yesterday morning I began listening to Helen Roseveare's message ...
